82% of respondents wanted parking permits to be free. That would either mean the City Council paying the County Council to enforce the scheme or the City taking over administration and, say, using existing City employed wardens for enforcement. There would still be a cost, but hopefully less than the current £50 per year Conservative Councillors would press for this to be looked at.
I’m sure I wasn’t the only one to be cross to see the 25% increase last year without any warning any additional benefit. I would be much happier paying if it gave me rights to park in other Oxford areas – one example: how about providing 15 car-specific passes to be used anywhere?
You mean I don’t have to pay for expert adivce like this anymore?!
This aritcle went ahead and made my day.
Make car users in central Oxford pay through the nose. We don’t want pedestrian precincts but we don’t like heavy traffic except taxis and buses which don’t park. Walking is civilised; public transport is an adventure – save money, be on the right side of history! Don’t clog Oxford!
