Ahead of the Oxford City Council elections on Thursday 2nd May, Oxford City Conservatives have today published our six-point manifesto for a better Oxford.
- Oxford City Conservatives are committed to holding Oxfordshire County Council to account over their anti-motorist policies, including LTNs, Traffic Filters the Workplace Parking Levy and the expansion of the Zero Emission Zone. These policies are illiberal and damaging to local businesses, NHS services, residents, and the environment.
- We will work to improve access to healthcare across Oxford by supporting the construction of a new multi-storey car park at the John Radcliffe Hospital and push for the expansion of access to more localised day-to-day NHS services across Oxford.
- Oxford City Conservatives believe in providing realistic, quality, and affordable housing for local residents. With sky-high house prices across our city, we would push for better targeted use of brownfield sites and surplus commercial premises to convert to housing, so that everyone across our city has the opportunity to call somewhere their own home; whilst opposing excessive and impractical development on our green spaces.
- We believe in delivering better value for money for residents. When budgets are tight, councils must focus on providing core services and practical projects well, and cut out wasteful spending, whilst keeping Council Tax as low as possible.
- Oxford City Conservatives support local businesses from the Botley Road to the Cowley Road, and everywhere in between. We will create and promote an environment in our city that encourages local businesses to prosper and thrive.
- We support active travel and safer streets. We will fight for better tracks and pavements that keep both pedestrians and cyclists safe, as well as ensuring pavements and cycle tracks are well-lit and free of litter. We will also work to clamp down on anti-social behaviour across our city and increase the number of Youth Clubs and support services for young people.
